Reflection

The content taught during the July sessions for Transition into the Profession have given me confidence in areas such as classroom management and behaviour, how to be a quality teacher, including the role and responsibilities that I have as a teachers. The skills that I was given during the course I will use during my internship such as writing a list of classroom management techniques on a piece of paper to refer to in situations when I become unsure of how to respond. The lecture given on behaviour management was very helpful especially when we are about to start this professional experience the examples the lecture gave us allowed us to see how we should respond to bad behaviour in the class. I will also strive to incorporate different types of ICT techniques into my lessons such as blogs, websites and even multimedia presentations. The presentation by Justine Zarebski showed how she as a professional teacher uses ICT in her classroom. The type of ICT she used was basic but it looked as though the students enjoyed filming their progress. These types of activities I could implement in my classroom planning such as creating a blog for my year seven Technology mandatory textiles class. The class has to create a product during the term, I could use a blog to record their progress through the design process.

I have created the follow goals that I want to achieve by the completion of my professional experience:

  1. To be confident in creating and following through classroom rules that I set to create a safe working environment for my students. To use the classroom management skills that I have acquired during my course. ( Element 5: Teachers create safe and challenging learning environments with classroom management skills)
  2. To learn more about the structure and culture of the school that I complete my professional experience at and follow and learn from the structure and community relationship. ( Element 7: Teachers are actively engaged members of their profession and the wider community).
  3. To insure the safety of all my students especially when participating in practical lessons in the textile and food technology rooms. ( Element 5: Teachers create safe and challenging learning environments through the use of classroom management skills)
  4. To learn more information about my subject areas and different methods of teaching this content to students. ( Element 1: Teachers know their subject content and how to teach that content to their students)
